Description

Wind Rose Cellars is a boutique winery located on the Olympic Peninsula. We began making wine professionally with the 2009 Harvest. We produce small lots of hand-crafted from Yakima Valley, Naches Heights, Wahluke Slope and Red Mountain vineyards. Wind Rose Cellars aspires to be Pacific Northwest’s premier winery for producing Italian style wines. For white wines, we produce Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño , Orange Muscat, and a dry rosé we called Rosato. For red wines, we produce Barbera, Primitivo, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Cab Sauv, Malbec, Tempranillo, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, and Carménère. Many of these varieties are very difficult to find in Washington. The Primitivo, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo are very rare, with around 10 acres total. From the varieties we make, many are around 80 cases per lot, with a total production of around 1000 cases. We produce a very small lot of single barrel wines called “Barrel Select.” Food has always been a passion for us and we regard wine as the penultimate food. Over the past few years, we’ve made trips to Italy–particularly Piedmont, Umbria, Verona and Sicily–to try the wines, taste the food and experience the rustic Old Country. We try and convey this Old Country character in our wines.
