Troy Ledwick has been in the wine industry since 1989 but not in the way he is involved now. Troy started working in restaurants as a server and learned as much as he could as he climbed the ladder becoming a wine director for a grand award wine list restaurant in Florida. After that, he ventured on to manage a country club restaurant and then sold wine for one of the nations largest distributors as an on-premise sales representative; all the while he volunteered for a local wine festival that benefits a children’s charities. As part of his job as wine director for The Colony Beach and Tennis Resort on Longboat Key, Florida, he started volunteering his time for The Florida Wine Festival in 1994 and still currently works for them as a consultant. The Florida Wine Festival is where he met a winemaker from Walla Walla, Washington who was making very fine wine. Little did Troy know, but that very same day his wife found him a wine school via the internet in Walla Walla. Serendipitous!
Troy continues to make outstanding wines for TL Cellars and is working on maintaining superior quality by using only the best fruit and innovative winemaking techniques. “Wine making is something I feel more than I can describe” says Troy. Troy and Kathy hope to maintain the small winery during these difficult times. Kathy’s past catering experience is a perfect blend to Troy’s winemaking especially during the big weekends. “We want people to feel like they have come into our home and are part of our family for a celebration” says Kathy. “Wine and Food and the Celebration of Life, what more is there”?
