Wofford Acres Vineyards

Mike, Paul and Ann purchased this beautiful property, overlooking the South Fork of the American River, in 2003. Before the previous owners planted grape vines it had been an apple orchard and now there are five acres of grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Gewurztraminer, Merlot, Nebbiolo, Petite Sirah, Petite Verdot, Syrah and Viognier. Yes, it snows (a few inches at a time), yes, there are bears (mostly in the Fall) and mountain lions (occasionally), and yes, there are rattlesnakes (more than Ann likes). Is it a ton of work? Absolutely! Is it “living the dream”? Sometime.
